Working across multiple interconnected sectors for comprehensive impact
Executive Director, HEDSI
Al-Mustapha is a development and global health practitioner with a legal background, applying an interdisciplinary approach to advancing human development, social equity, and accountable service delivery.
He provides strategic and operational leadership for HEDSI's work across inclusive education, health and wellbeing (including sexual and reproductive health and rights), gender Inclusivity, access to justice, climate resilience, and poverty reduction, with a focus on underserved and crisis-affected communities.
His work emphasizes cost-effective, evidence-informed programming, ensuring limited resources deliver measurable outcomes. His legal training strengthens HEDSI's focus on governance, rights-based approaches, policy engagement, and institutional accountability.
Al-Mustapha has led and supported community-based interventions including education and youth development programs, community health and SRHR initiatives, menstrual hygiene management and drug-abuse prevention campaigns, legal empowerment activities, and post-crisis community assessments.
HEDSI emerged from the consolidation of the Unique Charity Foundation and the Talent Hub Initiative, marking a transition from project-based delivery to a structured institution aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
